> What does TL Elements do?
TL Elements is an Autodesk Revit add-in for automatic and controlled building of Architecture models. It offers features of elements filtering by category, family, type and/or parameter; creation of walls, walls finishing (new walls or new layers), floors and ceilings (Revit post-2021 versions); insertion of doors, windows and sills; solids operations, parts handling and much more.
> Which version of Revit should I run to use TL Elements?
TL Elements is compatible with versions 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 of Autodesk Revit, running on Windows 10 or 11, with .NET Framework 4.8 runtime installed.
> What languages is TL Elements available in?
English and Portuguese-BR. English is the default language for the application. However, if you run Revit in the Portuguese-BR language, TL Elements will run in Portuguese-BR as well.
> What do I need in order to use TL Elements?
In order to use TL Elements, you will need to create an account at the TL Elements user area, download the installer of the application and run it to install the extensions for the desired Revit versions. Once installed, the add-in can be accessed at the "eTLipse" tab at the Revit ribbon.
> How many computers can I use TL Elements on with a single user account?
A single user may use TL Elements in different computers, but a logout in Revit is necessary prior to switching to another machine. Otherwise, the passing of 24 hours since the beginning of the session in the first computer will be required to unlock the use in a new computer.
> Can I use DWG/AutoCAD lines as reference to create walls?
Taking DWG/AutoCAD lines as reference is currently not possible, because, in order to achieve the expected creation of walls, the Revit Rooms should be already placed in the project, and, to place them, you will need Room Separation Lines as separators. But we surely look forward to implement the use of DWG/AutoCAD lines as reference at one point to expand the functionalities of our tool.
> Can I apply finishes to my existing walls in the project or should I always start the process by using Room Separation Lines to create the walls via add-in?
In TL Elements, the creation of walls using Room Separation Lines is an optional process. You can run the TL Walls or TL Frames command to use walls already instantiated in the project as reference to insert finishes (new layers in a compound wall or new walls as finishes to existing walls), floor and ceiling creation and doors and windows insertion. Please, make sure to read and understand all the requirements to properly use existing walls for these operations in the TL Walls and the TL Frames guides, available at our Guides section.
> Regarding the insertion of finishes to walls: can I insert new walls or just add new layers as new finishes to existing walls?
TL Elements allows you to create wall finishes in both ways: multiple walls or compound walls. In the Multiple Walls mode, you can insert new walls as finishes to existing walls. In the Compound Walls mode, you can insert new layers to existing types of compound walls (generating new types). > I do not know how to use the add-in. I am overwhelmed by the amount of features in the User Interface. Where can I understand it and get help?
In the TL Elements user interface you can hover your mouse cursor over any of the buttons and boxes to open a tooltip that explains the feature they set or execute. Also, you can always refer to the topics of our detailed guides for each main feature of the application. You can find them here.
